Associate artist
Alice Gautier, who has been with the CCNN for three years, creates both films and dance pieces. A graduate of the École Européenne Supérieure d’Art de Rennes, she forges close links between these two art forms, viewing editing, composition, rhythm and performance as key elements in the development of these forms. For over ten years, she has contributed to choreographic processes as a filmmaker, external observer, teacher and choreographer.
At the heart of her practice lies gesture: what gesture can achieve when driven by intention and imagination; what it does; what it transforms; the narratives it conveys; and the
relationships it weaves. Her choreographic work regards speech, dance and song as manifestations of the same poetic gesture, working to evoke memories and presences, and to interweave fictions. These fragmented, shimmering narratives carve out a wide-open space, giving full rein to the imagination of the audience.
In 2027, the performance of *De la pierre et de l’eau* as part of the Trajectoires festival will mark the start of the partnership with the CCNN.
Over the course of the seasons, she will also develop a special programme dedicated to the links between dance and cinema, bringing together films, archive material and discussions exploring the many ways of perceiving movement. At the same time, she will lead a new choreographic project and share her research through workshops, training courses, public events and discussions.
