One of the roles of a national dance centre is to promote contemporary dance by supporting independent dance companies through artist residencies.
Artists’ residencies
Every year, the CCNN hosts companies in residence for creation, research or revivals of existing Repertoir.
The Studio Reception
The ‘Studio’ programme is a scheme run by the Ministry of Culture to support choreographic creation. The companies receiving support benefit from co-production funding as well as a residency at the CCNN. Performances are staged for the public and industry professionals as part of the ‘Curieux jeudis’ series.
Studio residencies for the 2027–28 season
The call for applications opens on 10 July and closes on 15 October 2026.
As part of the studio residency scheme, the CCNN supports artists in their creation work every year, notably through:
- the provision of rehearsal space
- a cash contribution
- a studio flat
- technical support tailored to the company’s needs.
This call for applications relates to the 2027–28 season (from September 2027 to July 2028).
The CCNN has a large studio measuring 16 metres wide and 10 metres deep, and is equipped with the technical facilities required for technical residencies.
Selection criteria:
When assessing applications, the CCN pays particular attention to:
- projects led by companies based in the Pays de la Loire region;
- gender equality and diversity;
- the sustainability of the projects.
We welcome suggestions for raising awareness and engaging with the public.
Applications submitted by choreographers who have already received funding from the CCNN in 2024, 2025 and 2026 will not be given priority.
Applications will be accepted up to and including 15 October 2026.
