The Nantes National Choreographic Centre is part of the network of nineteen National Choreographic Centres (CCNs) established in France since 1984. The CCNs are led by choreographers. As centres of excellence for dance, they develop artistic projects based on the creation and presentation of their own works, support for production and hosting guest companies in residence, the development of choreographic culture, and training. These remit are entrusted to them by the State and local authorities, as part of regional cultural development and policies promoting dance.

The ACCN
The Association of National Choreographic Centres was founded in 1995 in Caen, fifteen years after the first National Choreographic Centres (CCNs) were established. Its aim is to organise exchanges and discussions between the teams at the Choreographic Centres, based on the remit entrusted to them (creation and presentation of the repertoire, support for production, hosting guest companies in residence, choreographic development and training, and, in some cases, programming). These discussions are placed within the context of public policy on the performing arts and foster dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders in cultural and artistic life. The ACCN also serves as a platform for the circulation of information – particularly technical information – for the benefit of both its members and public partners, such as the Directorate-General for Artistic Creation (DGCA) within the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Finally, its aim is to collectively give voice to the views and positions of choreographers-in-residence. The Association currently brings together the nineteen active CCNs.
