Imagine a maquis – a place for socialising and sharing, of the sort found all over West Africa. People gather there to share a meal, listen to music, dance, chat and, for the duration of an evening, leave their everyday worries behind.
It is this vibrant community that inspires Salia Sanou to organise a dance open to everyone. Accompanied by his musicians, he invites everyone to join in the dancing to the sounds of Mandinka and electronic music. For the duration of the dance, dance becomes a shared language, a way of coming together, breaking down barriers and celebrating the joy of being together.
