Imagine a space where everything is on the verge of collapsing. Where suspended cymbals pick up the slightest vibration, where sounds seem to stretch out. Elodie and Florian Guillotin draw us into this liminal space with *You Should Have Left*. The dancer and the musician, brother and sister, play with boundaries: a gesture calls forth a sound; a silence gives rise to a movement. Here, the focus is on the urgency of a body that resists, of music that bites. Inspired by their shared experiences, the duo explores our capacity to free ourselves and adapt in the face of instability. Between harmony and chaos, the audience is taken on a journey where the echo of their own fragilities resonates.
Élodie & Florian Guillotin
A versatile dancer and choreographer, Élodie Guillotin explores a form of dance characterised by organic and instinctive engagement: deconstructing to get to the very essence of movement. Her multidisciplinary training in contemporary dance, West African Mandinka dances, improvisation and hip hop fuels her exploration of interdisciplinary approaches, contrasts and points of friction. At the crossroads of different art forms, her work is informed by the interactions between the visual arts, sound composition and choreography. Through it, she explores intermediate states and their transformations.
As a musician, Florian Guillotin has pursued a multifaceted career: percussion and music from West Africa (France, Mali, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire), drums (Agostini School), photography, and the design and construction of loudspeakers. His intensive practice of freediving and Thai boxing fuels his close connection with movement and ‘physicality’.
Together, they weave spaces where sound and movement intertwine, combining exploration and embodiment.
