Salia Sanou
Multiple-s

Multiple-s

Durée : 1h40

With the Multiple-s project, the choreographer creates a space for exchange where he invites other artists to engage with his world. Following *De beaucoup de vous* with Germaine Acogny, a leading figure in contemporary African dance, and *De vous à moi* with the writer Nancy Huston, he is now reunited for *Trajectoires* with two exceptional collaborators: the singer and composer Ange Fandoh, for *D’un dialogue avec vous*, and the musician and poet David Babin, alias Babx, for *Et vous serez là*.

On a revolving platform – a symbol of the cycles of life – the duets follow one another and respond to one another. Gestures, voices and music intertwine in a interplay of listening and improvisation, revealing the fragile beauty of each encounter. With *Multiple-s*, Salia Sanou celebrates the diversity of languages and the power of otherness: a sensitive journey in which every body, every voice and every piece of music opens up a space for encounter with the other.

Salia Sanou transforms her one-to-one encounters into an incredibly free, rich and captivating exchange. Just like her dance, which avoids any cheap effects yet remains powerful and beautiful. Take, for example, the finale, which brings the four protagonists together in the style of a musical. A divine moment of camaraderie, beauty and happiness, precariously balanced on the edge of our humanity.

To tell the truth, even Sanou’s intense, almost martial gaze directed at the musicians is dramatic: it alone conveys the significance of the encounter between the arts, media and cultures. […] yet in *Multiple-s* there is always a subtle grace: ‘bathed in the light of existence’, to borrow Miron’s words

Salia Sanou succeeds in creating a vibrant, suspended space, carried along by the shared spirit of dance and music. A deeply moving, poetic and profoundly touching work. *Multiple-s* is a sensitive journey in which dance, voice and music become different languages through which to celebrate encounters and the beauty of interaction.
